The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are defined by “agents” on the phones rather than hardware features. These flagship smartphones, launched by Samsung Electronics on Wednesday, mark a milestone in smartphone evolution. In fact, Galaxy S25 AI evolution set the stage for a year where software capabilities dominate over hardware advancements in device launches.
Physical differences from last year’s Galaxy S24 Ultra are subtle, requiring side-by-side comparison to notice. The new version is 0.4mm thinner and 15g lighter, highlighting the minimal changes. The triple camera array appears identical, although the ultra-wide lens has been upgraded from 12MP to 50MP. However, the 200MP wide-angle and 50MP telephoto lenses remain unchanged.
Next-Gen Galaxy AI
Invisible differences bring more significant improvements. The Ultra runs on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with transistors measuring 3 nanometres. This upgrade, from the previous 4nm size, enhances performance in demanding tasks like gaming and image processing.

For typical app usage, the performance difference is negligible for most users. The upgraded “vapour chamber” cooling system improves heat management during intensive use.
The true leap in these devices comes from deep AI integration. Since the S24 series launch in January 2024, AI has shaped almost all new smartphones. Apple’s attempt with Apple Intelligence on the iPhone 16 in September failed as the software was not ready.
Galaxy S25 acting as an agent
Android phones avoid similar issues due to Google’s collaboration with manufacturers to make higher-end phones AI-capable.
Samsung led the industry a year ago by introducing Galaxy AI on the S24 range. Other manufacturers caught up later through Android upgrades. This year, Samsung advances further by integrating Google’s AI chatbot, Gemini, with its One UI 7 interface. Unlike traditional Galaxy AI, Gemini allows access to multiple apps and acts as an “agent”, performing complex user tasks.

A new era of mobile experiences
Google’s initial AI agents demonstrated limited functionality, resembling automated light switches. However, interactions are now far more natural on the new devices, a significant mark in Galaxy AI evolution.
Galaxy kick-started a new era of mobile experiences with the first AI phone, the Galaxy S24 series. It leveraged AI technology for benefits in communication, productivity, and creativity. The Galaxy S25 series evolves this experience with a human-like AI companion. One UI 7 integrates AI agents into every user interaction, providing a natural and intuitive experience tailored to specific contexts.

The perceptions that Samsung’s AI relies mainly on Google’s Android functionality have been addressed. One UI 7 is an AI platform with custom innovations. Samsung has developed the Galaxy AI platform to optimise AI agents for diverse app control.
Apps and agents work seamlessly in the background to perform tasks tailored to user needs. The Galaxy S25 AI evolution embodies our vision of an ultimate AI agent, marking the beginning of this journey.
