  1. Johan, thank you for an excellent summary of South Africa’s horrendous situation iro the current state as well as the bleak future waiting for this country.
I have during my career as accountant been involved in the efforts via the Development Bank in the late 1970 to pre 1994’s to phase in black economic development the “civilised” way and not forced BBBEE as has been the case since the ANC took over.
The efforts I am referring to, was to train and assist “people of colour” to start their own businesses and how to manage these businesses profitably. That included the training of these people as accountants and internal auditors how to help the black business owners to keep track of the finances of their businesses the correct way, and obviously to police the entire process by black auditors.
Needless to say, the idea was to enable and empower black people to function independently without forced replacement of able “people of other colour”.
Bottomline, even during the said training process I realised, with some exceptions, that; –
    1. The process of accounting and especially auditing, had a huge culture clash effect.
    2. Having had to police the policing of the black-owned businesses, we experienced countless cases of fraud and related irregularities which actually proved that the general African culture of “if one has not enough – in this case money, take from somebody else’s money who has more than you”
    3. BBBEE has not and will never work as already proven in many cases – the whole workforce needs to be based on capability and nothing else (and that especially includes the government!)
I want to stress that my opinion is based on experienced reality and NOT racism.
