It can be convincingly argued that the most important person to compete with in one’s life is oneself and not with others.
My new book The New Success Paradigm: A Personal Leadership Discovery Platform is centred around a metaphor of the ‘River of Life’ and in using this metaphor I develop the book’s key theme of personal leadership strategies.
Intrinsic power and potential
Intrinsically, every river has tremendous inherent power, no matter how small or unheard of it is, or where it happens to flow to or from. This is the power of nature that people across the world have come to respect through devastating floods that occur each year.
However, the same unstoppable, destructive power of the water in a flooding river can be transformed and used to drive hydraulic turbines that generate massive hydro-electric power.
In the same way as the intrinsic power of a river can be transformed to generate massive hydro-electric power, so the massive intrinsic power and potential inside you can be channelled into doing rewarding or fulfilling things and deriving great meaning from your life, or your business.
The distinct river themes
The inspiring book identifies specific ‘tasks’ which help build to an effective personal leadership programme which has been designed to be used alongside a very practical workbook and the highly interactive ELS LeaderApp.
The ‘River of Life’ metaphor is broken into three distinct river themes, namely:
- The Source
- The Course
- The Delta
Inside The New Success Paradigm experience:
- The Source focuses on an ‘inward search of yourself’.
- The Course is about ‘expressing your individuality and uniqueness’, and
- The Delta is about ‘making the most of your life’.
During The Source section of the personal leadership journey, the reader is encouraged to ask himself or herself some questions which are intended to consciously inspire changes in his or her life that could help him or her in finding new inspirations, and assist in maintaining a healthy balance in his or her life, while benefiting from the strengths of wisdom and reflections.
Readers are urged to enhance their lives through their feelings, by using the power of positivity while sharpening their senses of perception, intuition, and instinct.
As readers are guided through The Course section of the ‘River of Life, there are asked some hard-hitting questions about whether one’s life is filled with purpose and meaning, and offers examples of what a purposeful and meaningful life may look like.
Readers are also invited to reflect on whether they have identified their purpose and meaning in life, while offering suggestions about the benefits of a positive attitude, a sense of determination and an empowering frame of mind, as well as the value of building good relationships and respect.
In reaching The Delta part of the journey of the ‘River of Life’, a reader would have learned to create a framework of actionable personal leadership assignments to help him /or her make the most of his /or her life.
Application of personal leadership in specific contexts
This extremely valuable book contains 36 short fictional stories that have been crafted to provide inspiring, practical examples of the wisdom of the application of personal leadership in a specific context, or a particular situation in life.
Practical guidance is offered on believing in yourself, while building your future through optimism, hope and motivation and reaching out for personal success by turning your problems into possibilities, your puzzles into options, and your challenges into opportunities.
In the same way as the intrinsic power of a river can be transformed to generate massive hydro-electric power, so the massive intrinsic power and potential inside you can be channelled into doing rewarding or fulfilling things and deriving great meaning from your life, or your business.
