Former CEO, successful businessman, part time playboy, father, brother and son, Lenerd Louw’s Jump! is an epic travel and soul adventure of his phenomenal five-year journey in search of himself, which takes him to 35 countries across the globe.

In 2012 Louw is living the life on Millionaire’s Row on Clifton Beach in Cape Town. He appears to have it all – gorgeous women, threesomes, ecstasy and cocaine on demand. But something doesn’t feel right. He tries to drown a deep inner voice, urging him to change his career, life – everything – by partying harder.

By the end of 2012, a massive shift occurs. He resigns as CEO, sells all his worldly possessions and books a one-way ticket to Lima, Peru. With just a backpack and a heart full of questions, he embarks on what will become an epic five-year journey, covering five continents, in search of his soul and meaning.

Setting goals and believing in yourself

“I was aware that my goal-less approach went against popular belief. So many motivational speakers and gurus expound on the virtues of ‘setting goals’ and ‘believing in yourself’, to ‘go, go, go get what you want’. But I was more interested in surrender rather than control. I wanted to fully see what existence had to offer. Once all the fearful internal chatter had died down, I was finally able to listen.”

His epic journey starts in Peru, where he embraces celibacy, then moves to Ecuador and Colombia, where he battles with deadly parasites. He lands up in Las Vegas, where he discovers tantric yoga, and later in Ireland, he experiences the true colour of green and undergoes a sacred magic mushroom journey. In India he rubs shoulders with the Dalai Lama.

During his travels he undoes every comfort zone he has ever known and in true pioneer fashion relentlessly pursues inner change.

This highly original memoir is a sweeping search for self, abandoning materialism for true intimacy of self. Inspired by soul warriors’ works like Gary Zukav’s Seat of the Soul and Robin Sharma’s The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, Louw jumps off the cliff of comfort, into the deep unknown. What he discovers is magic.

What a ride! I didn’t see it coming. I thought it was just another run-of-the mill Journey to the Soul Thing – Elizabeth Gilbert meets Tamboerskloof. Done to death. But, wow, this is phe-nom-e-nal.

The profound lessons shared in this book has made me feel like South Africa has found its very own Alchemist meets Jonathan Livingston Seagull, but on steroids!
