In times past, if a product or service worked, you’d pat yourself on the back and move onto the next project. But this simply doesn’t work in the digital age. Today, users want an experience. Gone are the days when creating something clever and functional could pass, if your user experience (UX) isn’t up to scratch, you can expect your product to not only become a white elephant but to receive stinging reviews too.

Global disruptions have resulted in manufacturers needing to pivot to meet the needs of the new digital consumer. But given the worldwide semiconductor chip shortages, challenges in distributing automotive parts, and other supply chain issues, many manufacturers have struggled to make the transition.

The human resources (HR) challenge for this new world of work will be that best answers for dealing with these tectonic changes will likely come from employees, and not from an HR or change expert. Remember our mantra here: we’re in uncharted waters. After five months of this pandemic, we hope we’ve all torn up our company policy documents.
