Good bosses matter - now more than ever. The travel industry had to really hustle and adapt over the past couple of years, way more than any other sector. Those leading in travel, like I had to step up and guide teams through this crazy time.

With a personal affinity for change management borne out of transformative events in my life, I have witnessed its power to shape attitudes, behaviours, and thinking. In the fast-paced world of business, change management emerges as the transformative force that ignites the mind, heart, and soul of organisations.

Achieving visibility and memorability in a world where people are bombarded with adverts, messages and constant distractions is challenging, but not impossible. Strategic design thinking can provide the framework that brands have been searching for - the framework that will allow them to understand their target audiences and discover how to reach them at exactly the right time, in the right place.

The era of emerging technologies is changing everything in our lives. It’s changing the jobs landscape and how we work, but also how we interact with one another, how we are entertained, and how we learn. At the same time, businesses face changing customer expectations, and governments must contend with new demands from their citizenry.

Nearly 30 years after its release in 1996, Jerry Maguire is still one of the most quotable movies of all time. Who can forget, “Show me the money”? But beyond spawning one of the most famous lines in movie history, the movie is also full of lessons on leading with purpose. 

Our workplaces are changing rapidly, with organisations redesigning their spaces to be more flexible and hospitable, moving to accommodate hybrid work practices, or simply relocating to downsize. While the reasons for moving are clear, there is often an inconsistent understanding and implementation of change management, which can result in overwhelmed employees, reduced productivity, and the loss of valuable talent.

Do you have a heightened sense of empathy? Do you often notice tiny details that others don't? Do you ever feel overwhelmed in a busy, loud environment? If you answered yes to any of those questions, chances are you're a 'highly sensitive person', along with one fifth of the population.

To expediently adapt a famous observation, we do not only live interesting times but challenging ones as well and the only way we are going to navigate through our myriad problems is for a new type of leadership philosophy to emerge. It means CEO’s need to radically rethink their entire purpose and the way in which they plan operate and execute and to become more tuned into the zeitgeist. It is time to leave the ivory tower and take a reality check.

With the workplace constantly changing, and with almost every facet of industry and business having experienced rapid shifts in the last three years, the need for specific skillsets has changed accordingly. Soft skills are on the rise as a contributing factor for success in today’s post-pandemic world, because they lubricate change, amplify agility and strengthen resilience.
