Prior to the pandemic we were seeing the usual scams impersonating banks, telcos, and shipping companies but now a portion of them have switched to using the pandemic, the World Health Organisation, the American Centers for Disease Control and various international and local charitable organisations as bait.

Zoom has claimed that it is actively trying to make changes and make the application more secure. The privacy and security issues escalated in recent times, and there are alternatives one can follow. Whether Zoom can be trusted or not depends on how it responds to the various privacy and security issues that have been brought forward in the past few weeks.

For any South African organization, the best way to prepare for POPI is to implement a solid data protection strategy that guards against loss of data whether through malicious or accidental methods.
