Every day, millions of South Africans travel to work by car, taxi, train, e-hailing or on foot. Most of us track our spending in Rand terms. However, we rarely consider the true cost of mobility, especially the cost measured in time. Time is one of our most valuable resources. Unlike money, we cannot earn it back.

For many of us, it’s a tool we simply can’t live without. The ride-hailing sector is no different. From smoke signals and homing pigeons, long-distance communications have come a long way – today telecom platforms and solutions have transformed how organisations and individuals share voice, data, video and information. The world has moved beyond the physical and into the digital with solutions that allow for clear, always-on, and accessible communications.

Affordable housing remains a complex challenge, with varying interpretations of what ‘affordable’ actually means. According to the World Bank, housing is considered affordable when it costs below 30% of the average household income.

The world is in a permanent state of change amid technology, economy, consumer and climate change demands. Although there have been remarkable leaps in automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI), company leaders will continue to need highly skilled talent to meet their business needs.

The pandemic and the lockdown have reduced our mobility, but our connectedness - via IoT, the Cloud and AI - has helped us overcome this. As society gets moving again, connectedness will redefine the way we do it.
