Despite South Africa’s political turmoil and energy crisis, there is still significant interest from international property buyers who are drawn by the country’s inimitable lifestyle and the fact that that they can get considerably more bang for their buck here than in comparable areas abroad.

On 10 September 2021, Mauritius officially reopened its borders to South Africans, ending the 18-month travel ban imposed on SA visitors. The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) openly welcomed South African tourists back to the Mauritius shores, which is a token of the relationship between the two countries.

It’s undeniable that more South Africans are taking advantage of the EB-5 (employment-based, fifth-preference) immigrant investor program, which provides an investor’s entire family with United States green cards based on the creation of jobs for U.S. workers. With no age requirement or need for a U.S. sponsor, the EB-5 visa has quickly become a popular visa option for those seeking an easier life in America with more educational and employment opportunities for a family’s future. 

Recently when I was doing further research to write this story on the EB-5 investment visa, I was astonished to find that the demand from South Africans for this program is the highest it has ever been, it has grown by 486% over the past three years.
