Hybrid working can facilitate significant carbon savings and potentially significantly impact the climate crisis, according to our new study. The study measured the environmental impact of hybrid working, based on both building and transport emissions, on six cities across the US and UK with a deep dive into two major carbon contributors – London and LA. Others examined were New York City, Atlanta, Manchester and Glasgow.

As recently as September, scientists were highlighting the imminent risk that, even at the current 1˚C level of global warming, at least five environmental ‘tipping points’ are likely to be passed – from the collapse of the Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets to a massive die-off of tropical coral reefs.

New findings suggest that businesses that do not have a flexible workspace* policy risk losing out on top talent. Research shows that 83% of people would choose a job which offered flexible working over a job that didn’t, and almost a third (28%) of people value being able to choose their work location over an increase in holiday allowance.
