There are still more than 3,900 South African schools with illegal pit toilets. We have launched a campaign calling on people in South Africa to petition the government to #EndPitToilets in South Africa’s schools, in an ongoing drive to address the issue. As part of the campaign, we have created a stunt, printing a newspaper insert with ink made from sterilised human faeces, taken from pit toilets.

Bullying is a pervasive risk to, resulting in long-lasting emotional and psychological harm. In addition to physical and verbal bullying, a particularly concerning trend is the increased incidences of cyberbullying, also known as social media bullying.

It’s no secret that South Africa’s education system suffers from inequality and inefficiency. However, in such a young democracy, a certain degree of stumbling is to be expected. Unfortunately, even as we address past-era issues, the gap between privileged private-school education and that provided in peri-urban and rural areas is becoming undeniable and ever-widening, in no small part as a result of the complex COVID-19 environment.

Hold the white dress, cheesy music, expensive, but rather tasteless entrées nobody cares to eat and the dull fruit cake heavy with icing and you reveal the truth: marriage is not just a glamorous ceremony to entertain bored throngs but rather the union of two people.
