About the author
Eddie Germiquet has loved birds since early childhood. His recent retirement has allowed him to return to long-standing interests. Drawing on the interpretive skills he developed during his doctoral studies, he began a personal project to explore the origins and meanings of bird names.
That personal journey ultimately became South African Birds by Name, a book that combines scientific curiosity, history, language and illustration to deepen readers’ appreciation of South Africa’s remarkable birdlife.
